“Resonations”

To generate the these printes I first created videos by connecting a low voltage electrical signal from an audio synthesizer (+ or – 5 volts) to the input of a video signal generator. The result created a series of undulating bands on the screen images except that it was black and white. I then used another piece of equipment that was connected to the output of the video signal generator to shift the color values.
The footage for “Resonations” was created as a studio performance and recorded to video tape.

These were then printed as 22-36 inch digital prints on archival luster paper.

About this Project

Balancing visual and sound elements between distortion and clarity, I created Threshold Circuit. Viruses (biological and electrically) manipulate information and our bodies everyday and I want to visually describe that “teetering” moment between clarity and confusion.

About this Project

Threshold Circuit #2 is a “second take” on the virus concept. It looks at the idea by slowly manipulating the imagery. I see this as the unseen change in disease that is only apparent by observing it over time.

“Deck” was created to explore a “non-electronic” experiment of creating an animation using thin simple lines. In “Deck” I used a portable video camera and “danced” across a backyard deck keeping the camera lense focused on the deck’s floor.

The music for this piece has similar purpose to “Lim.1″, to immerse the audience into the fast movements by using the constrasting, slow moving sounds.

About this Project

Through a series of sequences from still photographic images taken in Quito, Ecuador, I created the video component for “Lim.1″. The music that I wrote for this work was created using one microphone and a Minidisc player and recording naturally found sounds. These sounds were then sculpted using a audio processing software that I created. I wanted the music to move in opposition from the video to increase the tension in the piece and attempt to bring the viewer more directly into the work.
